Stiftung Planetarium Berlin

Wonder at light speed

The Stiftung Planetarium Berlin was established on 1 July 2016 as a foundation under public law with legal capacity and unites astronomical institutions for the first time in Berlin's history. The Archenhold-Sternwarte and the Wilhelm-Foerster-Sternwarte are among the most traditional popular observatories in Germany, while the Planetarium am Insulaner and the Zeiss-Großplanetarium, Europe's most modern science theatres, offer relevant and innovative forms of education.

The Foundation's institutions are modern bridges to the cosmos. As a joint facility, they are at the highest international level in terms of technology and content and form an essential part of Berlin's educational and cultural offerings. The Foundation bundles the topic of astronomy and uses synergy effects. The decisive factor here is the reorientation and professionalisation of the joint programme and the programme offerings. In addition to astronomy, the range of topics will be expanded to include other sciences.

From a children's book to the Planetarium: »Armstrong - The adventurous journey of a mouse to the moon«

The tiny, inquisitive mouse Armstrong is fascinated by space, especially the moon. The other mice claim that it's made of cheese, but Armstrong doesn't believe it. How can he prove that the moon - like the earth - is made of rock? He comes up with a plan to build a rocket in his attic so that he can be the first mouse to fly to the moon. Will he succeed? And what adventures await the brave wee mouse?

A fulldome production by Stiftung Planetarium Berlin for planetariums and digital dome cinemas, based on the bestseller by Thorben Kuhlmann.

Would you like to bring the little mouse Armstrong into your planetarium or digital dome cinema as well? Then please contact us!
