Dokumentale (10 to 20 October) is a festival for documentary formats dedicated to the promotion of film, new media, non-fiction and podcasts. The festival takes place annually in Berlin and offers a forum for dialogue between filmmakers, journalists, authors, artists, academics and the public. With the D’Hub, the Dokumentale also offers a comprehensive specialist programme, which takes place from 14 to 17 October and whose centrepiece is The Good Media Pitch.
Diary of an Elephant Orphan
A baby elephant has lost its parents and now faces slim chances of survival. A group of wildlife conservationists takes the elephant in and cares for it, naming it Khanyisa, which means ‘sunshine’. The documentary takes us on a moving journey, following Khanyisa’s search for a new family. Since a wild elephant herd is unlikely to accept an orphaned youngster, Khanyisa’s rescuers set out to find a herd of orphaned elephants that was rescued twenty-five years ago.

Berlin Family Pass) and tickets for wheelchair users and their accompanying persons (since there are designated seats for safety reasons). Unfortunately, it is not possible to refund differences resulting from the purchase of regular online tickets. Therefore, please reserve the relevant tickets in advance via our ticket hotline.
Unfortunately, family tickets are not available for cinema films, music and special events, and no discounts apply within the framework of cooperations (e. g. Berlin Family Pass).
