Dokumentale (10 to 20 October) is a festival for documentary formats dedicated to the promotion of film, new media, non-fiction and podcasts. The festival takes place annually in Berlin and offers a forum for dialogue between filmmakers, journalists, authors, artists, academics and the public. With the D’Hub, the Dokumentale also offers a comprehensive specialist programme, which takes place from 14 to 17 October and whose centrepiece is The Good Media Pitch.
Grasshopper Republic
Millions of grasshoppers swarm deep in the forests of Uganda to mate. A group of young men waits at the edges of fields and forests to catch the insects, as the elusive grasshoppers are considered a special delicacy. To achieve their goal, the men carry massive generators and chemically treated light bulbs to the forest’s edge, battling exhaustion and injury. With breathtaking imagery, this film offers a new perspective on the relationship between humans and animals.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to refund differences resulting from the purchase of regular online tickets. Therefore, please reserve the relevant tickets in advance via our ticket hotline.
Unfortunately, family tickets are not available for cinema films, music and special events, and no discounts apply within the framework of cooperations (e. g. Berlin Family Pass).
